Indeed, outside of the box art it seems there wasn't much heart that went into making Brutal Paws of Fury. There's an infamous foreground table in one of Street Fighter 3: Third Strike's stages that's often noted as a major hindrance to players being able to play footsies, but that table is nothing compared to the stage in BPF where characters fight inside of a building while the viewer's perspective outside.Īnother stage sees characters fighting on a stage remnant of Fei-Long's Street Fighter 2 locale, except in BPF there's a railing that constantly covers 30-60% of the characters at any given moment. What looked to be a well put together experience quickly crumpled in real time as players from the mid-90s discovered the horrible controls, distracting inconsistencies, and maddening foreground obstructions that made many fights impossible to take seriously. It featured animal characters such as Kendo Coyote who would duke it out every four years on the uncharted "Brutal Island." Kendo Coyote is a coyote who, as you'd clearly have guessed from his name, uses tae-kwon-do as his fighting style. As you'll quickly see, Brutal Paws of Fury wound up being a haphazardly strewn together fighting game that was, at best, a lame imitation of successful titles like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.
